PERDANA Menteri, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad perlu memperjelaskan pelantikan Latheefa Koya sebagai Ketua Pesuruhjaya Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM) yang dikatakan bercanggah dengan dua perkara utama.
Presiden PKR, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, berkata ia berikutan pelantikan Latheefa itu dikenal pasti bercanggah dengan manifesto Pakatan Harapan (PH) pada Pilihan Raya Umum Ke-14 (PRU-14) lalu.
Selain itu, katanya, lantikan Latheefa dikatakan bertentangan dengan Akta SPRM 2009 yang antaranya menyatakan pelantikan perlu dibuat dalam kalangan penjawat awam.
“Perdana Menteri sudah melantik (Latheefa) selain menjelaskan ia tidak diumumkan dalam Kabinet atau Majlis Presiden PH dan kita mengalami kesukaran untuk menjelaskan isu ini kerana PH telah memberi komitmen untuk memenuhi semua janji dalam manifesto.
“Kita akan pertimbangkan semua pandangan atau bantahan dikemukakan semua pihak kerana ini adalah janji kita. Kita tak boleh mempamerkan PH seolah-olah cuba untuk tak tunaikan janji manifesto, selain menyokong atau bantah secara melulu juga tidak wajar.
“Bagaimanapun, ia perlu dibincang menerusi saluran betul iaitu dalam Kabinet atau Majlis Presiden PH, selain perlu beri perdana menteri ruang secukupnya. Saya tidak akan membuat kesimpulan selagi tidak mendengar penjelasan beliau (Dr Mahathir),” katanya.
Beliau berkata demikian ketika ditemui di Jamuan Hari Raya Perdana bersama Anwar yang turut dihadiri Timbalan Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail di pekarangan Masjid Kubang Semang, Bukit Mertajam, malam tadi.
Latheefa dilantik sebagai KP SPRM baharu berkuat kuasa 1 Jun lalu, menggantikan Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull yang memilih untuk memendekkan perkhidmatan kontrak beliau lebih awal.
Anwar berkata, penjelasan itu wajar diberikan kerana kerajaan perlu memastikan SPRM kekal bebas, selain penjawat jawatan berkenaan perlu dilihat profesional dan tidak dipengaruhi pegangan politik, perasaan atau gabungan.
“Penjelasan kepada orang ramai perlu kerana isu pelantikan ini berkait dengan manifesto, selain mengapa kita memenuhi atau menghormati manifesto perlu diperjelaskan bagi mengelak kekeliruan.
“Pada masa sama, kita sedar tugas untuk memastikan keberkesanan perjalanan pentadbiran kerajaan serta sokongan terhadap inisiatif dibuat perdana menteri,” katanya yang juga Ahli Parlimen Port Dickson.
Mengulas lanjut, beliau berkata, pihaknya tidak menerima sebarang makluman daripada Latheefa sebelum bekas ahli PKR itu bersetuju menerima lantikan bagi mengisi jawatan berkenaan.
“Latheefa tidak menghubungi saya sebelum terima jawatan ini, tetapi tidak maklum sama ada dia memberi tahu pemimpin lain. Saya hanya maklum mengenai perkara ini menerusi media.
“Kontroversi isu ini adalah apabila (Latheefa) letak jawatan selepas buat lantikan, tetapi bagi PKR kita dah terima dan tak ada sebab untuk pertikai peletakan jawatannya kerana dia sekarang bukan lagi ahli parti. Justeru, ia tak harus jadi kontroversi lagi,” katanya.
